Of the ancient. Of the past. Archaic.

It seems to be a tendency of human beings to think of progress, of new things, of newness of action by human beings as being original. Nothing could be further from the truth. Certainly, we have much more to work with given advances in technology but what of us, you and I. Are we different now than our forefathers were 5000 years ago. It doesn’t seem like it does it? If it does seem like it think again as you finally pick up a history book and find how we are exactly the same. Naught has changed in the human psyche. Only the means is different but the ends are the same.

Were war a thing of the past we could say we have advanced. True, we have better health and longer life now but what, other than technology, has changed? Has human nature changed? That is what this bible verse is about: There is nothing new under the sun. It is of this that I wish to speak, to set the minds to rest that think we have become superior to our ancestors. We are, unfortunately, exactly the same as progress is a ghost of the mind and superiority a feint of the modern times.
