I’ve often said that one who states that they are humble is declaring a negative to their proposition of humility. You and I are not humble and that is a word that should be assigned us by others posthumously, in common parlance.
Humility was best indicated by the final act of Jesus, who died that we might be saved and took all of our sins from us to guarantee eternal life. Humble is as humble does. (Thank you Forrest) There is an opposite to humble in the human equation and this is easy to spot by people taking their gifts from God to be their doing. I will say that, though I respect Trump, he is not humble about his gifts. Then again, what choice does he have, in his position of telling those who oppose him of what he is capable of. An interesting dichotomy brought about from the self-righteous who lie about him constantly.’
I will cover many aspects of human nature here, not because I am a psychologist, I am not, but from the point of view of one who has seen fifteen presidents come and go in his lifetime. I didn’t live this long to just shut my mouth and die quietly in the parlor.
I am also bringing God into this website for those who disdain the Christian ethic even though they owe our civilization for that ethic. I care not what people think so long as they think clearly. “A clear thinker,” is an old saying going back to time immemorial but also disdained by the self-righteous. It simply means one who wants truth in all things. No lying or obfuscation, just honesty. We find that not on one side of politics today and only a smattering on the other. This is why we do not trust D.C., by and large.
Oh well, as they say, tomorrow is another day. At my age I don’t count on that.
